Even as a young man he was part of the drama club at Midwest College, Warri and Anglican Grammar School which he attended. From where he would move to the University of Benin to study Theatre Arts, he graduated in 1983.

As far as education is concerned the thespian would again return to the learning halls of the University Of Lagos in 1997 and would graduate with a law degree in 2004.

He was called to the Nigerian bar in 2005

Richard Mofe Damijo was born on the 6th of July 1961 in a community of Udu Kingdom, near Warri, called Aladja.

After graduating from the university, the young thespian would spend brief periods of his life as a reporter for both Concord Newspapers and Metro Magazine respectively.

But his desire to be part of the acting world would see him struggle to play a part towards achieving that goal when he became part of the television soap opera in the late 80’s called Ripples. This movie would start him on his path to fame.

Ripples featured the likes of Alex Usifo Omiagbo, Yetunde Idowu, late Sam Loco Efe, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Larry Williams, Barbara Soky, Keppy Bassey Ekpenyong-Inyang, Segun Arinze, late Jennifer Emeka-Ossai, Olisa Adibua, Genevieve Nnaji and was aired every Friday between 8:30-9:00 p.m.

The soap Opera was produced by  Zeb Ejiro. Ripples which ran for five years uninterrupted on  NTA,was rested in 1993.

But the tide began to shift in his favour with Out of Bound which was the first film he wrote and produced.

Personal Life

He was married to May Ellen-Ezekiel (MEE), the publisher of Classique Magazine, editor of Quality Magazine, host of Mee & You Television Talk Show and a philanthropist.

She died during a fibroid operation in Lagos in March 23, 1996 at age 39.

Richard Mofe Damijo has always been quick to admit that she was a great helper, who changed his life for the better. a fact that was deeply expressed on her posthumous birthday in 2006.

He said, “Love of my life. My Quarterback. My Rock. My wife. I am everything I am because you love me. Warts’n All. Ur d one God gave me to love me as I am. 16 years later see where we are. See how I am. You make it all look beautiful. Mother of my children. My Adumaradan. I know you’ll rather I don’t bring you out here but I will love them to know the OTHER source of my strength and pride. Thank you baby for keeping my feet on the ground and making it real. You are my HERO. I love you. Happy birthday my ABK.”

They share a son together, his eldest son Oghenekome.

He is married to Eniola Abiodun and they have two kids already, a boy and a girl. Making Richard Mofe Damijo a grand father.

He got married to Jumobi Adegbesan four years after the death of  his wife, on the 29th of December 2000. She is 13 years younger than the celebrated thespian.

She is a successful business woman in the corporate world and was back then a big name in the television world while working for AIT.

Together they have for kids, making Richard Mofe Damijo a father of Five!

A Politician 

He also journeyed into politics in his home state.Where in 2008 he was called to serve first, in the capacity of a Special Adviser to the Governor and then as The Honorable commissioner of Culture and Tourism. He served for two terms.
